About this Event
Yule is one of the oldest winter solstice festivals, with origins among the ancient Norse thousands of years ago. After the solstice—the shortest day of the year—the days again begin to grow longer, so it’s thought that Yule was a celebration of the re-appearance of the Sun and the fertile land’s rebirth. Carolina Bauernhaus will be celebrating the season with the band Émigré, along with a Yule log workshop, holiday market and special menu!
Émigré prioritizes tunes and songs from tradition and boasts a very entertaining variety of folk songs, ballads, maritime songs & lullabies alongside lively reel and jig sets. They value the history and folklore behind their music, and during their performances, they use these songs as opportunities to introduce different aspects of the history and culture of the North Atlantic Islands (Scotland, England, Ireland).
During the evening, you can :
- make your own Yule log
- shop with unique & magical vendors
- eat a delicious holiday-inspired meal
- drink locally sourced, award-winning beers, ciders or NA beverages
