Please come and join us as we turn the wheel of the year once again and we welcome the Yuletide! Please bring with you any items that you would like to rehome to be placed on the Giving Blanket, a wrapped gag gift (no more than $5 of value or home made) so that we can play a gift game and your Holly King Gift (if you chose to participate in the exchange).
Our ritual will commence promptly at 5:45 pm, at that time the doors will be closed to entry, so please be on time. There will be feasting after the ritual where we can relax and get to know each other. You can sign up to bring something for the Feast https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0B4EA9AF28A2FE3-53024402-yule
Please register here: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/ev/reg/m3f2pa8
If you have never attended a group ritual feel free to request via PM or email a document that goes over Circle Etiquette. We encourage the use of ritual clothing for the event.
Yule is often confused with the winter solstice, but the former is a season while the latter is a precise moment in time. The Yuletide begins with the Arra Geola moon, which grows full in late November or the first few weeks of December, and the season then continues for two lunar months.
For Saxon Pagans (as well as Pagans from many other paths), the celebration of the Yuletide usually does not actually begin until Mothers’ Night (the solstice) and continues for a week or two after this. Scholars have connected the celebration to the Wild Hunt, the god Odin and the pagan Anglo-Saxon Mōdraniht.
Terms with an etymological equivalent to Yule are used in the Nordic countries for Christmas with its religious rites, but also for the holidays of this season. Yule is also used to a lesser extent in English-speaking countries to refer to Christmas. Present day Christmas customs such as the Yule log, Yule goat, Yule boar, Yule singing, and others stem from the original pagan Yule. A number of Neopagans have introduced their own rites.
