This year's festival opening begins with the Yugo logo exhibition at Udruga KvartGraphic identification in Yugoslavia
The principal starting point of the whole Yugo logo project lies in
the fact that most of the graphic symbols presented on this exhibition, created more than half a century ago, are considered
to be exceptionally high-quality solutions and up to modern stan-
dards. Their influence on contemporary (local) design, but also
on the establishment of collective aesthetic criteria, is by no
means negligible, which makes the subject of the entire research
– though seemingly archaic – in fact very up-to-date.
Unfortunately, after the breakup of Yugoslavia, a lot of the indu-
strial heritage was either lost, left to decay, or destroyed…
Yugo logo aims to collect and preserve as many graphic identifi-
cation marks ‘made in Yugoslavia’ as possible, but also draw
attention to some of the pioneers of the craft, whose contribution
must certainly not be forgotten.
