Exciting Update! We’re expanding! Death Cafe will now meet twice a month — on the First Wednesday and the Third Saturday of each month. This is an additional gathering to give more people a chance to join the conversation.
What is a Death Cafe?
A Death Cafe is a welcoming space for open, honest conversations about death. It's part of a global movement where hosts follow shared guidelines and principles.
Our purpose is simple:
To increase awareness of death in order to help people make the most of their (finite) lives.
There’s no set agenda, no pressure, and no expectations—just thoughtful, participant-led conversations about death and dying in all their forms. While we’re not a grief support group or counseling session, we hold space with care and respect for wherever you’re at in your journey.
Come curious or just come to listen. It’s okay to stay quiet your first time, there’s no right way to participate.
We’ll provide tea, water, and light snacks—just bring yourself.
Death Cafe Principles:
-Always offered free of charge (donations are appreciated)
-No ideology or agenda
-Safe, supportive, and respectful
-Open to all - regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, or -religion
-Confidential and inclusive
Venue Notes:
We’re grateful to gather at the historic Bloodroot Herb Shop. Please note: access to the event space may require taking a flight of stairs. If you need accommodations, let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to assist.
