DIOPA Youth Ministry is sponsoring Summer Mission-in-the-City.
- Want to do mission work in the City this summer?
- Put in some time for Jesus and complete your service requirement for next year?
The Youth missions are one day of service for the food ministries at the Church of the Crucifixion and St. Simon's, both located in the Southwark Deanery. There are four days scheduled. Serve at one or at all four.
Church of the Crucifixion (8th & Bainbridge)
Tuesday, June 22 and July 13, 9:00am-4:30pm
Orientations Monday before, 6:30pm-7pm
St. Simon's (22nd & Reed)
Saturdays, July 17 and July 24, 9:00am -4:30pm
Orientations Friday before, 6:30pm-7pm
The Mission Program
30-minute Zoom orientation the evening before the mission day, 6:30-7pm. Youth and leaders will meet the Priest and Warden who operate the ministries, Mother Jessie (Crucifixion) or Mr. Paul (St. Simon's)
Mission Service Day (Tues or Sat)
The service can consist of the following work:
- unloading food
- setting up for meals
- serving meals
- cleaning up and breaking down
End-of-Day Reflection
Youth will be asked to discuss
- where they saw God
- how were they challenged by their service
- what will they share with their peers
