In-person class COVID protocols:
- Classroom will be arranged to maintain social distancing
- Class size will be limited
- Masks will be required for the duration of the training
IDENTIFY - UNDERSTAND - RESPOND
Mental Health First Aid empowers individuals to identify, understand and respond to risk factors and warning signs of mental health and addiction concerns. Participants also learn:
- a 5-step action plan to help someone developing a mental health problem or someone in crisis
- where to turn for support - professional, peer and self-help
- topics covered include depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, addiction disorders
The course also teaches about recovery and resiliency – the belief that individuals experiencing these challenges can and do get better, and use their strengths to stay well.
Participants earn a three-year certification upon completion.
