Youth: Mental Health First Aid
Info: Training Objectives Include:
• How typical adolescent development differs from mental health challenges
• Overview of risk and protective factors affecting youth
• Common warning signs of mental health and substance use issues
• Impact of trauma, bullying, social media, and stress on young people
• Emphasis on early identification and support rather than diagnosis
Participants learn to recognize symptoms associated with:
• Anxiety and depression
• Eating disorders
• Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
• Substance use challenges
• Disorders where psychosis may occur
• Disruptive behavior disorders
This course is primarily for adults who interact regularly with youth, such as:
• Parents, family members, caregivers, guardians • Teachers, school staff, and support personnel
• Coaches, youth group leaders, camp counselors • Health and human services workers • Community volunteers, neighbors, mentors
