Ozark Mountain Music Association (OMMA) is thrilled to announce that they will be hosting this year’s Youth in Bluegrass Contest on May 18th, at the Branson Hills Event Center. This contest was the inspiration of DA Callaway and Mike Smith, from KSMU Radio, back in 2002. It has been the high point of youth in bluegrass for over 20 years. Twenty selected bands from all parts of the country, will converge, along with their friends, families, past contestants and bluegrass fans to enjoy this all-day event. Bands will invest countless hours, perfect their timing, instrumentals, vocals, and stage presence. This contest has become a right-of-passage for many musicians in the bluegrass world and holds special memories for its contestants as well as promoting life- long friendships in the world of bluegrass. OMMA is honored to be preserving this amazing tradition.

2nd place $2000
3rd place $1500
4th place $1000
5th place $500
In addition to these cash prizes, several colleges will be oering bluegrass scholarships, such as Bethel University in Tennessee, who will be there to oer up to 10 scholarships of $75,000 each to eligible students. Williams Baptist Univerity in Arkansas will also be offering significant scholarships. In addition to that, the Station Inn in Nashville, TN will be oering the winning band an opportunity to play on their world-famous stage! Deadline to apply: March 1st, 2024
Bands will be notified by March 15th and will be provided with rules and a sample ballot sheet.
