
About this Event
This FREE one-day event is intended to introduce high-school students to our local county officials and highlight the day-to-day operations of government in Frederick County. Various presenters will engage the youth in activities and discussions that will demonstrate ways in which they can become actively involved in their communities, through education, advocacy, and social action.
Students will:
Meet County Executive Jessica Fitzwater and Members of the County Council
Network with Frederick County government departments with the following focus:
· Frederick County Public Library-Resources and Tools
· Equity and Inclusion-My Voice Counts
· Human Resources Qualifications for Public Office
· Office of Economic Development-Starting a Small Business
· Workforce Development-Resume Writing and Summer Jobs
· Parks and Recreation Development-Recreational Activities for Youth
Target audience: High-school students
Breakfast and lunch will be provided
Capacity: 50 students can be accepted for this experience
