Details
Participants will understand civic engagement and its impact on the community and Exploring how the arts, specifically dance, can play a role in advocating for change and expressing community concerns.
Professional dance instructor will introduce participants to dance forms that resonate with cultural expression and social activism, such as Hip- Hop or Contemporary. Participants will learn a choreographed piece that symbolizes themes of freedom, unity, and rights.
There will be a Discussion on how dance has been used historically and currently as a form of protest and advocacy. Examples will be provided of how dance movements have brought attention to social issues and influenced change.
