This is an opportunity for young people with disability to desing a capacity building & life skills program that works best for themselves.
About this Event

WSMRC is inviting CALD young people aged 15-25 with lived experience of a disability to join our co-design sessions.

Together we will desing a capacity building and life skills program that works best for you.

Who can join?

  • Young poeple aged 15-25 years
  • Living in the Liverpool LGA
  • With lived experienced a disability
  • From a CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) background

Why get involved?

  • Build confidence and self advocacy skills
  • Strengthen communication and team work abilities
  • Develop leadership and colloboration experiece
  • Work towards capcity building goals.

This initiative is being delivered under The Path to Freedom program, funded by The Department of Social Services under the Information, Linkage and Capacity Building Grant.

Note:

  • Young people will be renumerated with $150 worth of Gift Voucher for their contrubution.
  • Young people do not need NDIS funding to be a part of this program.

Agenda

🕑: 10:00 AM - 12:00 AM
Day 1: Building Rapport and Brainstorming Ideas about Living a Meaningful Life

Info: The participants will be introducing themselves and participating in fun ice breaking activities, learn about the Path to Freedom Program and Brainstorm ideas about living a meaningful life.


🕑: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Day 2: Discovering and Unpacking The Common Themes

Info: The participants will group their common ideas and name the group. They later reflect on their own lives about: what is included in each group? What are things that they have? What are the things they still need/want? Why do/ don't the participant have it and why?


🕑: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Day 3: Creating an ideal life skills program

Info: The participants will unpack the remaining common themes. They will vote for the common themes based on their priorities. They'll also get an opportunity to create an ideal program and inform how WSMRC will deliver its capacity building program for the year 2026.
