You asked, and we listened—introducing Youth Classes at Pudgy's Place! :) This four-week session is focused on the beginner basics of drawing and 2d creation.
Here is a rough outline of the weekly schedule and goals, color theory will be introduced slowly in each class (please see the agenda section for a full breakdown and details of each week):
- Basic Shapes with still-life displays: blocking your still-life into simple shapes
- How to Draw People: building off of basic shapes
- Using basic shapes to create unique cartoons and animations
- Lettering: we'll learn how to do bubble letters and shadowing
These classes are designed to get your kids excited about drawing and inspired instead of dejected. The emphasis in our classes is on play and exploration rather than perfection which is what encourages anyone of any age to try until they "get it". Our goal in this class is to give the best possible art education while keeping the class and atmosphere fun and inviting. This 4-week course will meet every Sunday beginning March 2nd from 10 - 11:30 am with the final class being held on March 23rd. There is one make-up session per person per class if you are sick or life gets in the way. Please email us if you need to reschedule and we will coordinate with you! :)
Parents are welcome to stay the whole time or drop off their kids and pick them up after the session. Please note parents MUST pick their children up after class as other adult classes follow. We are offering a 4-week YOUTH wheel-throwing clay class in January, a hand-building clay class in February, and 2 painting 1-day workshops in February— for ages 8-15!
Note: Shahane will be the instructor! She has taught pottery since 2016, got her BFA in ceramic arts in 2015 with a double minor in art history and psychology, and owns Pudgy's Place with her husband Phillip :)
