Richard D. Hayes is a member of the Texas State House of Representatives serving on the Judiciary And Civil Jurisprudence Committee, and the Pensions, Investments & Financial Services Committee. He is a member of the Texas Freedom Caucus and serves on the Texas House Republican Caucus Ad Hoc Committee on Rule Changes and the subcommittee on parliamentary process.
He is a trial lawyer with Hayes, Berry, White & Vanzant in Denton, TX focusing on Business litigation and Eminent Domain litigation. He was a briefing attorney for the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas and a former Criminal Assistant District Attorney with the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office. He is Board Certified in Commercial Real Estate Law and Residential Real Estate Law.
He served on the Board of Regents of Texas Woman's University for 6 years and is a former precinct chairman and County Chairman of the Denton County Republican Party. He is a Professional Registered Parliamentarian and past President of the Texas State Association of Parliamentarians. He has served as the Parliamentarian of the Republican Party of Texas for four different State Chairmen.
Mr. Hayes earned a B.B.A. from Texas Christian University, an M.B.A. from Texas A&M University, and a J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law.
He and his wife, Helen, have five children and eight grandchildren. They live in Hickory Creek, TX.
