About this Event
The UK has one of the highest quality waters in the world according to the Yale Environmental Performance Index using disability-adjusted life-years lost per 100,000 persons (DALY rate). It is a highly regulated industry from abstraction of water, through treatment, storage and distribution all the way to buildings connected to the public drinking water system. Yet every year water companies received contacts from consumers about water quality. Some do relate to the types of water being supplied eg does it contain fluoride, how hard is it? More often the root cause is due to the plumbing systems in the home or fixtures / fittings attached to the system. There are also risks of which users have little awareness including opportunistic plumbing pathogens, metals and leaching of organic compounds into their water supply.
This presentation will give you some insight into water systems inside buildings and in your communities to make sure you always have access to high quality water you can trust.
The talk will be followed by drinks reception to provide an opportunity for networking. There is also an opportunity to join the speaker for dinner. Email Ira at [email protected] if you are interested in joining for the dinner.
