8th International Audition and Repertoire Workshop for Young Opera Singers. ERKKI LAURI ALSTE, an internationally known opera agent (Berlin) and a singing teacher, will work on your audition repertoire and lead the repertoire sessions together with the distinguished pianist and solo repetitor HANS-OTTO EHRSTRÖM from the Finnish National Opera with international experience.After Germany, Italy, Russia and Cuba the workshop will take place for the first time in Finland, in the small town Järvenpää, known as the home town of the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. Järvenpää is just 30 min away from Helsinki and provides a perfect surrounding for us. This special year will choose only eight (8) active participants, who are in the beginning of their opera careers and need some training for diverse auditions (opera houses, competitions, agents).
The workshop will start on 28th July at 11 o’clock with an audition, which simulates the real auditions. In the second and the “real audition” on 1st August we will invite some opera and casting directors, who will also give feedback and some hints for the participants. We provide daily individual and group lessons and all the participants have also right to hear each other. In addition, we will have every day “Meet a Pro” session with international casting directors, singers, stage directors and conductors, with whom you can share your experiences about the audition situation and ask questions about everything you want to know about opera world behind the curtain.
The five days workshop will cost 390€/person and if you want to stay in private families you will pay 30€ a day including breakfast. The workshop will be made in cooperation with the Music institute of Järvenpää and Tuusula and the city of Järvenpää.
