Diamond Card 47: You Can’t Let Go of the Old Image of Yourself to Embrace the Image of the NewYou are ready to experience life differently, but your past stops you from seeing yourself as a powerful person. Significant events have shaped your identity and narrowed the experiences you permit. Sticking to what you know and protecting old emotions has left your sense of self diffuse, incomplete, and disconnected.
Moving beyond your narrow view of life is not as great a leap as you imagine. You are a work in progress, an unfolding story, each step building upon what has come before. There is no requirement to quit the life you had before because that life was you. It is simply time now to open up to all of you.
To expand your viewpoint, connect to your unresolved experience. Why has the experience remained unresolved? What haven’t you been able to accept or let go of? Once you understand the self-judgments tying you to your past, you can integrate the experience. See your past for what it is, the training ground, preparation, and map to where you want to go.
Set a new boundary by acknowledging yourself. Look at what you do with appreciation. You will see yourself through the eyes of self-love.
