Our Third Annual May Day Festival - April 29-30 12-6pm at the Calvin Center in Youngstown.Come join like-minded neighbors from across the Valley at the May Day Festival, a fun free celebration of labor, climate justice, human rights, social justice, and Beltane, Saturday and Sunday April 29-30 from 12-6pm at the Calvin Center in Youngstown.
We’ll have music, maypole dancing, arts and crafts for young and old, workshops, demonstrations, speakers, and other merriments.
There will be a wide variety of community groups tabling and vendors offering original, locally produced art, home goods, plants, and food. We’ll have a community meal and also a food truck offering vegan, vegetarian, and carnivore options.
Saturday we welcome the Mahoning Trumbull Workers Memorial Ceremony at 2pm, a discussion on the Norfolk Southern disaster at 3pm, SOBE Concerned Citizens campaign against a toxic incinerator at 4pm, and a roundtable on racial justice and mass incarceration at 5pm.
Sunday we welcome James Rhine on paganism as an environmental or decolonizing spirituality, Sean Posey on the history of popular resistance to the railroad companies from the Great Railroad strike of 1877 to East Palestine at 4pm, a roundtable on Ohio's fight for bodily autonomy at 5pm.
Music Line Up includes: Ruby Jean Hornsby, Crash the Great, Jonathan Blackshire, Leather and Lace Acoustic, Indig0forest, Miss Dreadful, Evan Bloom, Tom Cvetkovich, & Danny McMaster
Crafts include making intention pots, witch bells, herb wands, flower crowns and seed bombs. All free and kid friendly!
