Join the Young Wardens at the Avalon Marshes Centre with the Recorders of Avalon Marshes group (RoAM) to help identify and record local species while learning about and contributing to nature conservation.About the Day
This 4-hour session, conducted by the Hawk and Owl Trust (part of the Avalon Marshes Partnership), will be held outdoors at Shapwick Moor NNR.
• Meeting Point: Main car park at Shapwick Moor NNR (what3words ///horseshoe.cheering.wimp)
• Start Time: 10am
• Collection Time: 2pm from the main car park
• Activity length: 4 hours
What to Bring
Ensure your child is equipped and clothed appropriately for the day's activities. This includes:
• Long-sleeved clothes and suitable shoes
• Sun hats or raincoats, depending on the weather
• Insect repellent and sunscreen
• Packed lunch and water bottles (lunch is not provided)
About the Programme
The Young Wardens Programme provides hands-on involvement and action-oriented conservation work for children aged 12-17 on the Avalon Marshes. Organised by Natural England on behalf of the Avalon Marshes Partnership, this initiative brings together wildlife charities and conservation agencies to protect the unique landscape and habitats of the Somerset Levels.
Booking
To book your child’s place, reserve a ticket on Eventbrite. You will receive an email with a form to complete, which is required to confirm your child’s participation. Payment of £5 per child should be made on the day to the session leader (cash only).
