About this Event

THIS LISTING IS FOR BAY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY.

Welcome to the Young Entrepreneur Pitch Challenge!

Date: Sign up due by November 22, 2024

Location: Bay High School

What is it: Sponsored by the Young Entrepreneur Institute, the Pitch Challenge asks students to work as individuals or a team of 2-4 people to put together a 90-second elevator pitch video (think Shark Tank!) that sells the watcher on a mock business venture that solves a real-world problem. Entries are judged on their creativity of the problem addressed; creativity of their solution, business name, and video; persuasiveness of the pitch; and overall quality. The mock business venture must fall into one of these five categories:

1) Sustainability & Environment

  • Judges will consider solutions to problems like pollution, climate change, and waste for this category. Students are encouraged to propose an idea to tackle issues like water conservation, recycling, etc., to create a more sustainable future for all.

2) Technology & STEM Innovation

  • This category welcomes pitches that utilize any area of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) to address a problem or promote progress in fields like medicine or software engineering.

3) Sports & Recreation

  • Pitches eligible for consideration in this category will aim to improve sports experiences, encourage active lifestyles, and foster connections through recreational activities.

4) Social Entrepreneurship & Community Ideas

  • A social entrepreneur establishes a business venture that supports a social cause or solves a community problem. A pitch in this category will focus on presenting a business concept, along with addressing a crucial community issue.

5) Product Innovation:

  • This category invites pitches that introduce new products to the marketplace, solving everyday problems or offering a fresh twist on a classic product.

Details: Bay High School students who sign up will be sent information for a follow-up meeting during QRP to explain further details and guidelines about the challenge. The actual pitch video won't be due until February 28.

60 Finalists will be chosen, winning a $60 gift card per team/individual, and 12 Grand Prize Winners will be selected for a $250 gift card.
