This event gives cooking’s wild young talent the chance to take centre stage and shine, and also officially launches the latest restaurant by creative culinary partners; the punk rock queen of veg, Shannon Martinez (Smith & Daughters, Smith & Daughters Deli) and her very own mentor; industry heavyweight, Ian Curley (French Saloon, Kirk’s Wine Bar).
Ian and Shannon have hand-selected the brightest young chefs from the hottest kitchens in town, asked them to unleash their wildest visions for plant-based dining, and opened the doors to the brand new Lona Misa. Their brief? Turn vegetables into masterpieces. Opened only this April, Lona Misa is where yin meets yang, North meets South, oil meets vinegar, and now – where wunderkinds meet masters. With decades of experience in fine and bistro dining, Curley will work alongside ground-breaking vegan chef and author Martinez, in a venue where dining is vibrant, bold, and unapologetic. We couldn’t think of a better no-holds-barred environment for our fine young chefs.
Promoting and nurturing young talent is a Good Food Month legacy and we proudly shine a light on the crème-de-la-crème of Melbourne’s bright young things. Shannon, Ian and their young chef protégés will be preparing multiple courses served with wine and beer.
