A chinese proverb says: 'One generation plants the trees, and another gets the shade' a reminder of the importance of sustainability, long-term planning, and leaving a positive legacy for future generations. Join us for a short formal close to our week of festivities celebrating the older person, then plant your own native plant alongside whānau in a ceremony symbolising growth, belonging, and care for Papatūānuku.
Light refreshments served. All ages and families welcome!
Plants and spades will be provided but feel free to bring your own gloves and spade if you want.
Please ensure you wear appropriate footwear as you will be planting in and around the wetland.
Look out for the flags and gazebos for the exact location at Gordon Carmichael Reserve
If you have mobility issues please get in touch so we can make a plan to accommodate you. Volunteers will be available to plant a tree on your behalf if health or mobility prevents you from doing so. [email protected]
