About this Event

Have you ever asked yourself how a website come to be? Is it only for special people, who have special brains, to be able to make them?
The answer is No! Anyone can build a website, and in this workshop, we'll learn how to do just that. We will even come dangerously close to having fun.
Even if you never write a website, this workshop will illuminate how the web comes together, which can only help you in our overwhelmingly digital world.
- If you never plan to be a programmer, but want to learn how websites work, you'll find this workshop valuable.
- If you're a hobbyist, and want to learn more about the web, this workshop will help you.
- If you're a professional developer starting your career, you'll learn something in this workshop.
- If you feel like you have no control or ownership over what you make on the web, this workshop could provide some hope.
Unlike every other similar worshop I've seen posted online, this one is in person. Anachronistic? Maybe, but I think there's a lot of value to connecting that way.
If any of this sounds interesting, I'd love to see you January 25th.
What you'll learn
- How to use common HTML tags
- How to use a code editor
- What a webserver is, and how to use one on your laptop
- How to publish your website online for free
Who am I?
My name is Chris DeLuca, and I'm a professional software developer. I've been making websites for about 15 years. I've worked for big companies and governments, done silly little hobby projects, and everything in between.
M y passion is de-mystifying digital technology, and hopefully empowering folks to greater feelings of ownership and creativity online.
