Join the JMABC community for an evening of history and nosh, celebrating the launch of JMABC’s newest temporary exhibit, You Can’t Spell Delicious Without Deli: A Look Behind the Counters of Vancouver’s Historic Jewish Delicatessens. The exhibit will be open for public viewing for a limited time at Omnitsky’s Kosher Deli, 3435 Fraser Street during regular opening hours.
You Can’t Spell Delicious Without Deli explores the stories of five beloved delis that once served as gathering places for generations of both Jewish and non-Jewish diners in Vancouver. Each of the delis featured in this exhibit represents its own unique world where recipes carry history, flavours spark nostalgia, and a shared gastronomic culture is anchored by communal memory. Comprised of archival photographs, historic menus, and interactive QR codes, this exhibit invites you to step into the rich history of Vancouver’s Jewish delis to learn more about the enduring influence of these important establishments, and the charismatic individuals behind the counters.

This event is free to all. Advance registration is required. Light snacks will be served.
