About this Event
Why are there 70-year old bungalows next to a LRT station? Why does it take 4+ years to build a row house? Why are prime, large lots being subdivided to build ugly skinny singles? Where is all the density in what should be a busy inner city community?
Come find out about that and more at “YOU CANT BUILD THAT !” a walking tour about how restrictive covenants have shaped development in the community of Banff Trail. The walk will share a quick history of Banff Trail, provide a Restrictive Covenant 101, and discuss the specifics of how the restrictive covenant has impacted development in a community with significant infill development pressure. Led by a pair of housing advocates and Banff Trail enthusiasts.
WALK NOTES: will use speakers/voice amplification.
MEETING SPOT: Banff Trail LRT Station (east side)
WALK LEADERS: David Kowel and Kathryn Davies. David is a recent resident of Banff Trail and the former Director of Planning & Development at the Banff Trail Community Association. Kathryn Davies is a resident of Banff Trail, a law student, and a housing advocate with More Neighbours Calgary.
