Bridging the Gap to Employment in Canada - How Internationally Trained Professionals Re-Enter Their Careers Faster
About this Event

Very limited seating available - please reserve your seat in advance and avoid disappointment.

This session will take place in conjunction with Canada Job Expo on January 28th and features a special in-person presentation by professionals from Humber College.

Humber College experts will be on site to provide first-hand insight into Bridging Programs, programs specifically designed to help internationally trained professionals successfully transition into career-level employment in Canada. Drawing on their experience supporting thousands of professionals across Ontario, they will explain what works, what employers expect, and how candidates can position themselves for success.

Attendees will have the opportunity to receive accurate, up-to-date information directly from the source, ask questions face to face, and gain clarity on next steps—something that is rarely available in a public setting.

This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from program specialists, gain practical guidance, and make informed decisions about your career pathway. Canada Job Expo is proud to host this exclusive session, designed to help professionals move forward with confidence.

Bridging the Gap to Employment in Canada

How Internationally Trained Professionals Re-Enter Their Careers—Faster

Many internationally trained professionals arrive in Canada with strong education, years of experience and proven skills yet find themselves unemployed or working far below their qualifications. This workshop explains why that happens and more importantly, what actually works to fix it.

Humber Polytechnic invites internationally educated professionals to a focused, practical session that demystifies Bridging Programs, one of the most effective and employer-recognized pathways to career-level employment in Canada.

These intensive, short-term programs are specifically designed for professionals trained outside Canada in fields such as Engineering, Information Technology, Supply Chain, and related disciplines. Rather than starting over, bridging programs build on what you already have, adding the critical Canadian components employers look for:

  • Canadian technical standards and practices
  • Workplace culture and communication expectations
  • Industry-recognized credentials
  • Direct employment supports and employer connections

Developed in close collaboration with industry partners, bridging programs exist to ensure your global expertise is validated, relevant, and competitive in the Ontario job market.

In This Workshop, You Will Learn:
  • Why international qualifications alone often aren’t enough in Canada
  • How bridging programs close the gap between experience and employment
  • What Ontario employers expect—and how bridging programs prepare you
  • Who qualifies, how long programs take, and what outcomes to expect
  • Clear next steps to move from interest to enrollment

This session is ideal for internationally trained professionals who are ready to stop guessing and start following a proven, structured pathway to meaningful employment in their field.

Eligibility Overview

Bridging programs are typically available to individuals who:

  • Are Ontario residents (Permanent Residents, Naturalized Citizens, Convention Refugees, or Refugee Claimants with a valid work permit)
  • Hold post-secondary education (degree or diploma) obtained outside Canada
  • Have prior professional experience in their field
  • Are unemployed or underemployed (working outside their profession)
  • Meet a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 6 across Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking

Who Should Attend

If you are serious about securing a career-level job in Canada and not just any job. This workshop will give you clarity, direction and a realistic pathway forward.

This is not theory. This is the system many successful internationally trained professionals use to re-enter their professions and move forward with confidence.

Please reserve your seating at the earliest. See you at the Job Expo and this information session. Please separate tickets for each one.
