We at the International Dyslexia Association, Oregon Branch, and Dyslexia-Language Skills Therapy are thrilled to announce an exceptional IDA-Accredited training opportunity with Ron Yoshimoto, a renowned educator and cofounder of the Orton-Gillingham Academy.

This exclusive six day course, taking place at Reed College in Portland July 22-27, 2024 8:30 am-3:00 pm, will provide an in-depth exploration of the Orton-Gillingham approach, trusted for its effectiveness in teaching students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties.

Participants will gain invaluable insights and practical strategies to teaching reading, writing and spelling in the general education classroom, small group, and one-on-one settings from one of the foremost experts in the field, making this a rare chance to learn directly from a master.

All training course materials, including extensive teacher resources, are included in the cost of the course. The training does not include a practicum option.


Ronald Yoshimoto, M.Ed, M.S.W., Fellow of AOGPE

Ronald Yoshimoto has been in the field of education and dyslexia for over 40 years as a general and special education teacher in the public schools and private schools, a principal, educational diagnostician, social worker, counselor, teacher trainer and consultant. He was principal of a private school for dyslexics and gifted children for 18 years and has been training teachers in OG Basic, OG advanced. oG preschool, OG ELL and Multisensory Math for over 20 years and has created thousands of materials for teachers. After leaving the private school, he worked for the state of Hawaii department of education as a special education teacher and trainer. He has also founded an OG therapy Centre in Singapore and an organization based in Denver where they train and certify teachers in dyslexia, reading and OG. Special emphasis is public school teachers where he has modified OG for small group and whole classroom instruction. He also founded and is director of the Dyslexia and OG Institute of Hawaii. Ron has also been president of the Hawaii Branch of IDA and Vice-president of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. He has personal experience with dyslexia- his brother was dyslexic and he vowed that no child should endure the problems that his brother did in school
