Yosemite Slough Neighborhood Adaptation Plan: Public Workshop #3

Today, Bayview Hunters Point is already affected by flooding. As sea levels rise, flooding along San Francisco’s waterfront is expected to be more frequent and severe. If no action is taken, the neighborhood is at risk of significant flooding from sea level rise in the near future. The Yosemite Slough Neighborhood Adaptation Strategy aims to recommend measures to protect Bayview Hunters Point and secure targeted investments. The San Francisco Planning Department, in partnership with other city, state, and federal agencies, is analyzing coastal flood risks and asking for your input on adaptation measures for the neighborhood surrounding Yosemite Slough. This project is one of several coordinated efforts to protect the entire shoreline—including residents, local businesses, and community assets—from 3.5 to 7 feet of projected sea level rise by 2100.

The City is hosting a series of public events to gather input on community priorities for advancing sea level rise adaptation measures and environmental justice in Bayview Hunters Point. This third workshop offers an opportunity for attendees to learn about the project, review evaluation findings, and discuss the next phase of adaptation planning.
