York Music Hub is offering a musical opportunity on 22nd February 2025 at Clifton Explore Library for pupils in the early stages of learning their instrument. YMH have invited Paul Harris to join us for the afternoon in a family-friendly workshop style environment. This gives junior pupils the opportunity to be assessed and pass an “exam” without the stressful environment or to enjoy performing to a friendly audience.The afternoon:
The afternoon will be divided into 3 parts ensuring that all students are performing alongside those of a similar ability. Within each group Paul Harris will also present an award for the best performance.
13:00 to 14:00 - Preparatory to Grade 1
14:00 to 15:00 - Grade 1 and 2
15:00 to 16:00 - Grade 3+
We know that all pupils process feedback and assessment in different ways. We intend to offer two options:
Option One (Assessment):
If your pupil would benefit from being “assessed” Paul Harris will provide you with written feedback in ABRSM style for 2-3 short pieces of music performed by the student. The pupil will be issued with a York Music Hub achievement certificate. An accompanist is provided if required.
Cost: £10 payable before the event (free for bursary recipients, FSM, PP or LAC)
Option Two (Celebration):
If you would prefer a more informal celebratory opportunity to perform to a friendly audience. No written feedback will be provided and there are no requirements on the number or difficulty of the pieces to be played. An accompanist is provided if required
Cost: £5 payable before the event (free for bursary recipients, FSM, PP or LAC)
Tickets for audience members are £2 each payable on the door.
