Carve Your Own Polar Bear at York Ice Trail

This year, take your York Ice Trail experience to the next level with our exclusive 40-minute Ice Carving Sessions. Under the expert guidance of our professional ice sculptors, Icebox, you can get hands-on and carve your very own polar bear masterpiece: no experience needed, just creativity and a sense of adventure.

In the mist of the York Ice Trail, where spectacular ice sculptures transform the city into a frozen gallery, this interactive session offers a truly unforgettable experience for all ages.

Limited spaces available, book your carving spot now and create your own sculpture this year.



Session Options

We’re so excited to be piloting these sessions for 2026 in a limited run so be quick to secure your slot!

Sessions will take place at the following intervals:

11.00am - 11.40am

11.50am - 12.30pm

1.00pm - 1.40pm

1.50pm - 2.30pm



Session Pricing

We know how much the York Ice Trail is loved, and we're proud that much of the event is free to enjoy. However, because these carving sessions are led by professional ice sculptors and use specialist equipment, there is a cost to take part.

That said, we’ve kept the price as low as possible to give as many of you as we can the chance to have a go at ice carving.

A carving station for up to two people costs £35 plus booking fee

If you'd like to add a third participant (Young person only aged 8 – 17 Years old), it's just £7.50 extra



What You Need to Know

Get ready to unleash your creativity in the coolest way possible. Before you pick up your chisel, here’s everything you need to know to enjoy a safe and unforgettable experience at our Ice Carving Masterclass Sessions on Parliament Street.


Location: All carving sessions take place in our designated Ice Masterclass Zone on Parliament Street.


Age Requirement: Sessions are open to ages 8 and up. Young people aged 8–17 must be accompanied by a participating or supervising adult (18+).


Booking Size: Each carving station can host up to 3 people, with no more than 2 adults per station.


Booking: Advance booking is essential as spaces are limited, and we’d wouldn’t want you to miss out.


Waiver: All participants (or a guardian for under 18s) must complete a safety waiver prior to attending your session. A link to the waiver will be provided in your booking confirmation.


Arrival Time: Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to check in. Late arrivals may not be able to join their session.


Session Length: Each session lasts 40 minutes, including a short safety briefing from our expert ice sculptors at Icebox.


Refunds: Bookings are non-refundable unless the masterclasses are cancelled


Your booking confirmation will include details of what you need to do next and a link to the masterclass waiver for completion prior to your session.
