Once you’ve submitted your application, our canine team will reach out in a few days to confirm your approval and match you with a dog!
📌 IF you have a specific dog in mind, please note that on your application. If that pup is already matched, we’ll help you pick another deserving dog for your outing. Dogs are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to change (i.e., a dog gets sick, behavior changes, etc.).
✨ What Is Dogs’ Day Out?
This program lets community members take one of our adoptable dogs out of the shelter for a day filled with fun and exploration! You can:
🐾Take them for a hike or a park stroll.
🐾Treat them to a pup cup at a drive-thru.
🐾Visit a dog-friendly store for a shopping spree.
🐾Create your own adventure—the possibilities are endless!
✨ Requirements:
🐾A reliable vehicle where the dog can be safely restrained or crated for transport.
🐾A valid driver’s license to be copied at the shelter.
🐾Participants must arrive at 9:00 a.m. at the Brougher Companion Animal Shelter – York County SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
🐾Basic safety and handling instructions will be provided before you leave.
🐕 Important Details:
Participants will take a lap around our facility with their assigned dog to ensure comfort and handling.
Dogs must be returned to the shelter by 4:00 p.m.
