About this Event
This event is kindly hosted by Patch York (coworking space) as part of York Environment Festival.
A climate listening circle (also known as a climate cafe) is a small gathering which offers a place where fears, uncertainties and hopes about our climate crisis can be safely expressed (over a pint, a hot drink or piece of cake). It's a confidential, respectful, thinking and feeling space where people can meet with others and talk informally about what climate change and ecological breakdown means for them, perhaps find common ground, and listen to others' diverse experiences and feelings. In a climate listening circle there are no guest speakers, no lectures, no advice and no expectations that you will join any cause or take any action. It's not a therapy group although naturally talking about and sharing feelings can be very therapeutic.
The circle is run by trained facilitators who also participate in the sharing and listening.
Also to note, please can attendees arrive for the beginning of the session so as not to miss the introductions to the circle.
