Yoga Therapy for Anxiety is a therapeutic approach to yoga to treat how anxiety and stress manifest in the mind, body and breath.
This class is open to everyone. It will focus on breathing techniques to soothe symptoms like racing thoughts and shallow breathing, alongside mindful flowing movement to encourage a connection to the physical body. No previous yoga knowledge is required.
Zakiya Bishton leads this class. Zakiya is a British Wheel of Yoga teacher and has specific training in yoga therapy for anxiety, trauma, and insomnia. Zakiya has been practising yoga for 20+ years and teaching for 10+ years. For Zakiya, yoga doesn’t start or end on a mat; it is a way of life that approaches people and situations through a curious, considerate, and empathetic lens.
