Contact Melissa at [email protected] to register, or go online to www.aum.org/ymtt Larry is one of America’s most experienced yoga and meditation teachers. He is a living example of the yoga and meditation he’s been teaching since 1971. His teachings (some call them Larryisms) are clear, practical and insightful. They contain both a deep spiritual perspective and a healthy sense of humor.
Larry's gift is his ability to bring classical teachings to modern life. For example, Larry teaches that a yoga pose is only complete with a smile, that meditation can actually enhance your thinking (not your "not-thinking") and that what you learn on your yoga mat can be applied to all aspects of your life, including relationships, work and health.
Larry is an E-RYT500/YACEP, the highest certifications given by the national Yoga Alliance. In 1970 he left for India on a one-way ticket. He travelled for almost one year and studied with the world’s foremost yoga and meditation masters, including B.K.S. Iyengar (who he studied with personally for 20 years), Swami Satchidananda, Pir Vilayet Inayat Khan, Swami Vishnu Devananda and Baba Ram Das. Larry’s YouTube videos, which include Secrets to Posture, Headstand and Nauli (stomach rolling) have had hundreds of thousands of views. He is one of the most popular yoga and meditation teachers at the prestigious Chautauqua Institution every summer in upstate New York. He has taught at Active Minds, the national college suicide prevention program. He has done numerous keynotes for businesses, graduations, and conferences and is a beloved adjunct professor at Kent State University where he teaches Intro to World Religions.
Married in 1970 to his Cornell University sweetheart, Larry and Susan have three grown children and four grandchildren. Larry received a B.S. and M.B.A. from Cornell and an M.A. in Philosophy and Comparative Religion from Kent State University. He has been the CEO of a public company on the New York Stock Exchange and is a U.S. national swimming champion. At the 2023 National Senior Games he won seven gold medals and set two national records. Larry calls swimming “yoga in the water.”
