Even if your desire is not to teach yoga as a career it is wonderfully empowering to get up and share the practice you feel so passionate about, we support you every step of the way.
Share your passion for yoga and develop your confidence to teach others with an immersive and practical course.
You will learn…
* The Art of Accessible Sequencing
We’ll practice lots of yoga during the training, and you’ll learn the benefits of each posture and how both dynamic flow and meditation in stillness are so valuable in a yoga class. You’ll learn how to lead inclusive, accessible classes and how to adapt so that your students can all join in. You’ll be given tried and tested sequencing formulas which you can adapt and theme to make them your own original offerings, we know what works and we’re here to share. Each module has its own recorded home practice for you to do between the modules, you’ll feel your own yoga practice getting stronger and more enriching as you learn.
* The Roots & Evolution of Modern Yoga
We are passionate about yoga history and philosophy, and we think it is important to honour the cultural roots of yoga and learn the history of the practice from an expert, you’ll receive a half-day teaching from a world-leading expert Matthew Clark, an associate professor at SOAS in London, Matthew has taught on YTTs all over the world for many years. How we then translate these ancient ideals into modern life is also covered in the course, within an extensive library for you to use at Be you’ll have plenty of material to digest and lots of discussion on the evolution of yoga philosophy.
* Anatomy for Yoga
Sometimes called functional anatomy the way we learn physiology and anatomy in yoga training is very practical, you’re not at medical school so you don’t need to know absolutely everything! You need the basics and you will learn how to safely instruct your students into and out of the yoga postures. You’ll be taught anatomy by the marvellous Silvia Laurenti who has over 30 years of experience as a physiotherapist, yoga therapist, pilates instructor and anatomy teacher with the Minded Institute. You’ll be given a training manual with the anatomy you’ll need for teaching and an app that we use for the assessments, you’ll have lots of time to learn practically and enjoyably.
* The Mystical to the Practical
Often called the subtle body, you’ll learn all about the chakra system, the energetic body and how the mind-body connections are so powerful in healing and well-being. Ancient wisdom from Ayurveda and ritual movement is fascinating to learn about. Course leader Bryony trained in Yoga Trance Dance with Shiva Rea in 2018 and Yoga Therapy with the Minded Institute in 2015, she keeps up to date with the latest research in yoga for the mind and how movement with intention as well as sound can affect our brains, hearts and whole immune system. Mindfulness is naturally a part of the Buddhist teachings that influence yoga, you’ll be guided through various forms of meditation and you’ll make your own Mala beads to help you cultivate your meditation practice.
* Holding Space & How to Teach
It can be daunting to stand up and instruct if you’re not used to public speaking, Teaching methodology is learning how to grow the confidence to share the practice you love. Holding space means being present and attentive to others without trying to change or fix them, yoga is a practice that works best when students can go inside and be honest about their capabilities, a great instructor holds a grounded, steady space for students to feel safe and held. Be yoga course leaders are all either qualified therapists and/or trauma-informed yoga teachers, with us you’ll learn to find your authentic voice and teach from your heart with confidence and skill.
* The Business of Yoga
We’ll share everything we know about how to set up your own yoga business, how to collaborate and make connections in the industry, how to plan your classes and market yourself and how to manage your earnings and insurance as a small business. The Be Yoga community is now a large network, we offer ongoing mentoring for all our graduates and you’ll be well looked after by our lovely alumni. Ongoing training at Be is always offered at a discount for graduates who need a little help and our graduates are always first in line for getting new classes at our busy studio.
