Studies show that approximately 1 in 5 adults in the United States experience stress and anxiety on a regular basis and while professional help can play a vital role in managing these conditions, many people are seeking complementary practices to support their mental well-being. One such practice that has gained immense popularity is yoga! Oftentimes, anxiety and stress can first manifest in your physical body causing feelings of tension, soreness and discomfort. Yoga offers a multifaceted approach to mitigating these feelings by combining physical relaxation, controlled breathing techniques, mindfulness, and meditation. Emily, is a certified EMBER (Embodied Mindfulness-based Emotional Resilience) instructor, and Trauma Responsive Care Trainer with a wealth of knowledge, resources and tools to share! Regardless of your yoga experience, you will find this workshop to be incredibly accessible and supportive. You can expect to move through a series of gentle yoga poses and somatic practices aimed at relaxing your physical body, a guided meditation that will lead you towards greater self-awareness, an education driven group discussion and calming breath techniques to aid in your healing journey. You will step away feeling empowered to take control over your emotional well-being with a toolkit full of mindfulness strategies to restore balance and peace into your everyday life.Emily will be partnering with Rachael Bardnell who is a certified RYT 200 yoga teacher and Trauma Sensitive EMBER™ certified Instructor. Rachael has her Master’s in Social Work from The Ohio State University and is a licensed social worker. She works as a Staff Support Clinician for the YOU Matter Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Rachael provides therapeutic interventions including mindfulness and regulation integration to staff. Rachael teaches yoga from a lens of empowerment and choice. She believes in the power of restorative practices and processing stress and trauma through the body.
