This gentle and meditative practice focused on peace is held by donation to support Native women in need through the work of Mother Nation. Mother Nation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that delivers social and cultural healing services for Native women that nurture, create stability, and inspire growth through sisterhood. They provide cultural healing circles, homeless prevention, mentorship, workshops, and training to transform the journey of Native women into natural leadership and restore the cultural strength of Native people in the world.
This event will be held both in-studio and via livestream from 3:30-5 PM on Sunday, November 24th by donation (electronically via GoFundMe) and will incorporate gentle asana, pranayama, and meditation.
Wondering why we are hosting this practice and raising money for the Native women in need? It is important to bring awareness to and support organizations Mother Nation, especially around Thanksgiving, which is a day of mourning and grief for many Native People. It is our hope to hold space that cultivates peacefulness and compassion towards others while acknowledging the pain and loss of indigenous people—the original caretakers of the stolen land we practice yoga on today.
This event will be held at Seek Yoga Studio, on the ancestral and traditional lands of the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Crow, and Shoshone Indigenous peoples along with other Native tribes who call the Great Basin and Rocky Mountain region home.
