Yoga asana is a balance of strength, flexibility and breath. But what happens when flexibility dominates the pose Hypermobile joints such as knees and elbows that bend backwards, hips that easily widen (but usually difficult across centerline), and low back lordosis can cause inefficiency to core strength and even worse, weakness, potential injury to body parts, and pain. To top it off, many with hyperflexible joints experience extreme tightness somewhere to offset the hypermobile area(s).This workshop is aimed for those with a lot of flexibility and not enough brakes! Alicia Oskay, C-IAYT, a practitioner of Iyengar yoga and teacher for over 20 years, instructs from both personal and professional experience with hypermobility. Work the pose from a different perspective to slowly control loose areas. Perfect for dancers, aerialists, yogis, gymnasts, and anyone with loose joints. All levels.
