Anxiety can affect so many parts of our life: our work, our free time, our relationships, our sleep and our health. The way anxiety shows up for you could be big or small. Whether it limits you in obvious ways or is a background feeling of unease, know that you're not alone!
Join Emily for this extended practice to explore, understand and learn how to navigate feelings of anxiety in the body and mind so that you can view it in a different light.
We will be delving into calming breath techniques (pranayama), movements to release tension in the body (particularly in the neck, shoulders and tummy) and techniques to relax and restore the body and mind. We will be creating space physically and mentally to invite more self acceptance and find peace of mind away from any anxious thoughts.
Emily will be applying her own experiences dealing with her anxiety to guide you through this practice - "Back in 2012 when I first started yoga, anxiety controlled my life; and I often felt powerless to it. I was scared to leave the house some days and the simplest tasks felt overwhelming. Yoga has given me the tools to control my anxiety, I try my best to teach people what has helped me."
The main takeaway from the workshop will be having a greater understanding of what anxiety is, why you might have it and how yoga might help us move through our anxieties and craft a healthier state for our mind and body.
