Yoga for 12 Step Recovery: Regaining Your Relationship With YourselfLosing yourself is like being lost in a maze, but with no clear way out.
Nikki Myers, the founder of Y12SR (yoga of 12 step recovery), has said “Addiction is the disease of the lost self.”
Anytime we look outside of ourselves for something that can only come from inside of us, we are entering into an unhealthy relationship with whatever that thing is.
If something is keeping you from being fully present and showing up in your life the way you want, then deciding to change that thing can be the difference between merely existing and truly living.
Y12SR meetings/classes consist of a group sharing circle, and an intentional yoga class taught by a certified Y12SR guide. A holistic approach is offered that invites individuals to build capacity and resilience, to cultivate skillful mind states for skillful actions, to practice presence, to integrate, to learn, to teach, and to heal within the context of community.
A somatic approach to breath and movement, mindfulness, peer support, trauma sensitive curriculum, educational recovery topics are woven together to serve ANYONE seeking to overcome self-destructive or addictive tendencies themselves or for those who have been affected by the addictive behaviors of others.
This special combination of social support and yoga practice provides a safe space on the mat for discovery, growth and healing.

Leanne believes yoga is for everybody & every body. A passionate yogi, she seeks to ignite a spark for yoga in others, guiding students to find a yogic path that honors their needs. Leanne
wholeheartedly feels yoga is healing in a myriad of ways, the ultimate act of love & connection-for ourselves & for others. Her style of teaching invites students to come as they are, to be gentle with themselves, to slow down & connect to the moment & breathe, to explore & reflect.
Her history as an addiction counselor as well as her own recovery led to her interest in leading Y12SR (yoga for 12 step recovery) programs where she is able to offer a combination of yoga & support group-a safe space for others to share their experience, strength & hope, to let others know they are never alone. Together, we can heal.
Recently retired & enjoying the time this has afforded her to spend with her two fur babies, Josie & Ruby, but also, more time to spend on her mat.
