This beginners’ Hatha yoga class works the whole body by using held postures, or asanas, and breath work, or pranayama, to build strength, improve flexibility, enhance balance and tone muscles. The mindful focus of this class calms the nervous system and balances your internal Sun and Moon energies.
We will be taking an in-depth look at Downward-Facing Dog Pose, or Adho Mukha Svanasna, trying different variations and also using wall ropes to help support us.
Downward-Facing Dog Pose works the whole body by strengthening the arms, shoulders, core, glutes, and legs while strengthening the back, hamstrings, calves and shoulders. The pose creates an inverted, full body ‘A’ shape that lengthens the spine, improves circulation, calms the mind, and builds flexibility and stability simultaneously, requiring both muscular effort and opening.
Come along and ‘Walk the Dog’ with us?
