This unique offering invites presence through the intertwining of yoga and poetry, an experience rooted in contemplation and observation. If contemplation is a "long, loving look at the real" (thank you, Walter Burghardt), this class begins with allowing a poem to invite us into that long and loving look.
Carrie Heimer will walk you gently and gradually through one poem as if it were a garden path.
We'll linger, line by line, with questions the poem is asking, and hold them in a time of quiet meditation or journaling.
While sharing is not required, we will offer two opportunities for small group shares; this practice honors solitude with space for chosen community.
Expect an hour of guided reflection to lead you in and back out with grace.
Attendees are encouraged to bring something to write with and on, a notebook or journal, perhaps.
Whether one chooses to linger in thought or capture fleeting insights with a few written words, there is space for both stillness and creativity.
Following the Contemplative Poetry journey, the session will ease into a Yin and Restorative practice with Jade, where we stay in long-held stretches and supported postures that soothe the nervous system, all while inviting awareness of breath.
