Come and practise yoga with music by a live string quartet in a beautiful Victorian ballroom in Leytonstone E11. If COVID-19 regulations change and we are unable to host this event, we will refund in full. But for now, we are excited to safely meet and enjoy movement and music together!
Ann Pidcock and Estilo String Quartet have collaborated to bring a unique vinyasa yoga experience to Leytonstone. Acknowledging the benefits that music can bring to yoga practise, this event will develop the relationship between sound, breath and movement by incorporating yoga teaching with live music from a string quartet performing an eclectic set of classical and chamber-pop tracks to inspire and invigorate. Previous sessions have featured music by Arvo Pärt, JS Bach and arrangements of tracks from artists including Beyoncé, Nick Cave and Sigur Rós.
Yoga Ab Alto is open to yoga lovers of all abilities and experience. After the 90 minute yoga event draws to a close with a long Savasana, we invite you to stay a while relaxing and chatting with a hot chocolate as the autumn afternoon unfolds. Then, head downstairs to the Red Lion - which opens (conveniently) at midday. Have lunch, some wine... You deserve it!
Ann was first introduced to Yoga whilst training as a dancer at London Contemporary Dance School. The instant improvement she experienced in strength and flexibility made her curious to discover more about Yoga and its extensive benefits.
She has been teaching a soft style of Vinyasa Flow across London for the past 10 years at Studios including The Life Centre, TripSpace and East of Eden. Her interest in how the body moves is largely influenced by her work in dance, whereas the breathing, asana and esoteric elements stem from her education in Yoga and it’s rich history of styles and ideas. Ann sequences in a way that is thoughtful, creative and layered.
Progressively building warmth in the body so that it can unfold into the postures over the duration of the class, always offering options for various levels of practitioner.
Estilo String Quartet are based in East London and are reknowned for their eclectic repertoire, especially their recordings and concerts of contemporary pop arrangements by Michelle Taylor-Cohen. Reinterpertations of modern tracks such as Fairytale of New York, Pompeii, Tenerife Sea and Game of Thrones all achieved great success in the iTunes classical charts and playlists. They have released two albums: Marriage in an Orange Grove in 2014 and Alternative Tracks in 2018. Estilo have performed and recorded for artists including Christof Van der Ven, Basia Bulat, Allman Brown and for theatre and film.

*How do I get in? And can I change?
The Red Lion Ballroom has it's own entrance to the side of the pub. There will be two curtained changing areas provided
*What should I bring into the event?
Please bring your own yoga mat, reusable water bottle and a keep cup or similar if you would like hot chocolate afterwards
