Balance the energy of the Summer months with a cooling, calming, mid-day Yin Yoga practice at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Centre.
Drop-in Wednesdays from 11 am - 12 pm for a soothing and passive yoga practice with Rianna in the NOTL Community Centre Studio room.
In Yin Yoga we find stillness in the breath, body, and mind as we come into the shape at an appropriate depth. Then we resolve to be still, remaining in the shape for 2-5 minutes, sometimes longer.
Yin Yoga targets our connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body and the meridians. This is contrast to a Yang yoga practice such as Vinyasa yoga which targets the muscles.
Energetically, Yin yoga improves the energy flow, enhancing the flow of chi in the organs. To be healthy, we need healthy organs as well as healthy muscles. Yin yoga also offers wonderful emotional and mental health benefits.
Please bring a mat and 2 blocks.
