The throat, our center of expression, holds the stories we don't voice and the echoes of moments we were silenced. On the left side, we meet the energy of self-censorship: things unsaid, suppressed, or held back. On the right, the pain of expressing ourselves yet remaining unheard.
When energy gets stuck here, it may show up as tightness in the neck, jaw tension, or even difficulty speaking our truth. We might over-explain, or go silent. Sometimes we lose our voice, not because we have nothing to say, but because we’ve learned it’s safer to stay quiet.
In Yin Yoga, we meet the body in stillness. As we soften into long-held shapes, the fascia begins to release, and the grip of held stories starts to loosen. The throat softens. Space opens. And with it, the possibility for something new to move through.
