Restore your mind , body and soul and alleviate stress in this two part special class. The first half of this special class will be a Yin yoga practice.
It is a perfect way to unwind and balance out our nervous system.
In a world that’s ever shifting, may you use this practice to find stillness.May this practice allow you to see the unity of all things, from the shifting of the seasons to the suppleness of the spine.
We will be practicing with bolsters provided by the studio for all students that will participate
What is Yin Yoga?
Yin yoga is a slow-paced practice focusing on poses that stretch the hips, thighs, and lower back. In a yin yoga sequence, poses are held for five minutes or more, typically with the support of blankets, blocks, straps, and bolsters.
Yin Yoga is a practice that seeks to mindfully lengthen and lubricate the connective tissues and approach Equanimity in the subtle and emotional body. Practicing the methods of stillness, mindfulness, and loving kindness, Yin Yoga empowers practitioners to coax Prana into particular healing and rejuvenate pathways.
According to leading yin yoga teacher Paul Grilley, connective tissues need slow, steady pressure in order to relax, and this practice facilitates that. Long, still poses gradually relieve the connective tissue of tension, enabling you to move more freely and engendering a greater range of motion.
Yin Yoga practice stimulates the body’s energy channels (meridians) bringing balance to the vital organs, improving flexibility and joint mobility. We will hold in the postures longer to help release tension off the joints, ligaments and tight muscles ..
We realise how calm and balanced both mind and body feel when we practice letting go of worry, if only for a moment, it is enough!
Yoga Nidra is the practice of yogic sleep. It is done lying down in savasana. Science has said that 1 hour of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to four hours of uninterrupted, restful sleep. In Yoga Nidra, you are guided from the Beta brain wave state (where we operate most of the day and in times of stress) into the Theta and Alpha brain wave states. People with a consistent Yoga Nidra practice have expressed experiencing healing from trauma, clarity, less anxiety, better sleep, and more compassion towards self and others.
In our fast-paced lifestyles we could all do with a little guiding hand in learning how to deeply relax and let go of our stress. We are holding a Workshop exploring the meditative elements of Yoga that will benefit you physically, emotionally and mentally. This class is for anyone and is suitable for people who have no Yoga experience - but who simply want to learn relaxation techniques.
All levels welcome
WHAT IS YOGA NIDRA?
Yoga Nidra is a deeply relaxing and healing guided meditation that enhances the mind-body connection allowing both body and mind to profoundly relax and let go.
We will take a nourishingly slow movement practice, supporting our body to let go and soften and will end the practice with a thoroughly relaxing Yoga nidra. Yoga nidra is also known as yogic sleep and this is where you get to completely rest, lying still and following my guiding voice into a deep state of relaxation, but still being fully aware.
