- About Yilian -
Cuban violinist Yilian Concepción began her musical studies at the age of seven. She trained with Héctor Barrientos at the Conservatory of Music in Holguín, and Augusto Diago at the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. Currently, Yilian is completing her Professional Performance Certificate in the studio of Carol Cole here at Lynn.
Yilian has performed with the Havana Lyceum Orchestra, Cuban and European Youth Orchestra, Orchestra of the Americas, and the Pacific Music Festival Orchestra. Her festival appearances include the Rheingau Music Festival, Alfredo de Saint Malo Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Mozart Fest Latino, and the Pacific Music Festival in Japan. She has also participated in master classes with Guillermo Figueroa, Andrés Cárdenes, Igor Karsko, and Rainer Küchl.
Her achievements include winning both the John Oliveira String Competition and the Concerto Competition at Lynn, earning the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Lynn Philharmonia. She is currently a member of the South Florida Symphony and Palm Beach Symphony. Outside of music, Yilian enjoys going to the beach and watching movies.
