About the Artists

Telemonster
Over the last 10 years, the band Telemonster has produced 12 kids and 1 record. These days their music comes from this particular place in life – a place where you carry toddlers more than guitar cases; where you play hide ’n’ seek more than you play shows; where music is made from 9:00 pm to 2:00 am because everyone else has gone to bed.

Telemonster’s 15-year run is no small feat considering the band was originally formed for a one-off college talent show in 2009. Telemonster’s early output stemmed from collaborations between cousins Ben VanderHart (guitar/vocals) and Josh Barrett (drums) who had moved to Chattanooga, TN from their respective hometowns in Iowa and New Mexico. John-Michael Forman stepped in on bass to round out the band’s earliest lineup, and over time they added Dave Hess (keys) and Paul Smallman (guitar/keys). Telemonster released an eponymous EP in 2011 and quickly followed up with 2012’s self-released A Girl I Knew. After a 6-year hiatus, the band returned to the studio in 2018 and self-released their sophomore effort, Introspecter, Pt. 1 on Yellow Racket Records. Over the last few years, the band has continued writing and recording amidst the disarray of having kids, running their own businesses, founding a record label, opening a record store, and, whenever possible, enjoying a quiet life.

Days Now
Days Now (formerly El Rocko) began as the musical outlet of Chase Waller in 2019. A native of Savannah, GA, Waller relocated to Chattanooga after college, where he now works as a middle-school teacher. Though he has been writing songs for most of his life, Waller started creating music under the alias "El Rocko" back in 2019, when he released his first single on Yellow Racket, “Half the Day.” 2022 saw the release of El Rocko’s debut EP, Daydreaming, and the latest single, “Silly Old Me,” landed in Summer 2023.

Over the past 5 years, El Rocko transformed into a full-blown 5-piece band, and under a collaborative roster that included Waller’s wife Sammie (vocals, banjo), Sam Miller (guitar), John Reeder (keys), and Jon Hooker (drums), the band re-formed under the name Days Now. Heavily influenced by shoegaze, 90’s alt-rock, and indie folk, Days Now’s music combines ragged guitars and mellow vocals with simple, honest lyrics to produce dreamy and wide-ranging songs, flitting between simple folk music and lush dream pop. Drawing inspiration from bands like Slowdive, Sigur Ros, Red House Painters, and Sufjan Stevens, Days Now’s songs are intimate, confessional, and always a little off-center.

Breznik
Breznik is an alternative/post-punk 5-piece based in Chattanooga, TN. Led by brothers Abe Houck and Ian Houck, the band released their self-titled debut album in 2022, and followed up with an EP of live studio sessions in 2023. Frontman Abe Houck was the first official employee at Yellow Racket Records back in 2020, and has been a mainstay at the shop ever since.

Daniel Nelson
Whether it be writing, performing, touring, producing, or mixing live shows, Daniel Nelson has been a virtual swiss-army-knife of musical talent in Chattanooga’s music scene for more than a decade. Daniel has been a member of numerous Chattanooga bands over the years, but his solo material is the most intimate and transparent of all his creative output. Daniel was instrumental in launching Yellow Racket’s performance space in 2023 and he frequently helps mix & produce live shows at the record store.
