There’s no place like home, and this November, there’s no place quite like San Juan College (SJC). The Henderson Health and Performance Center (HHPC) invites runners, walkers, families and fitness fans alike to join the Yellow Brick Road Run on Saturday, November 8 at 9 a.m.Inspired by the timeless magic of The Wizard of Oz, this colorful community event features a 5K trail run/walk and a 1-mile walk, designed for participants of all ages and fitness levels.
Participants are encouraged to show their Oz pride by dressing as beloved characters like Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion or Glinda the Good Witch for the optional costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative looks, and festive spirit is highly encouraged. Just make sure costumes are safe to run in.
The first 150 paid participants ages 14 and up will receive a free themed t-shirt. Additional shirts may be available for purchase at the event while supplies last. Registration is $30 for ages 14 and up, and children 13 and under can register for free when accompanied by a registered adult. Adults must stay with children during the race.
Packet pickup will take place at the Henderson Health and Performance Center on Friday, November 7, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., giving participants plenty of time to collect their shirts and race bibs before the big day.
The magic doesn’t end when you cross the finish line. After the run, participants and spectators can enjoy family-friendly festivities, including themed games, photo opportunities, refreshments and post-run yoga. So, click your running shoes three times and register today!
