Indie rock three-piece YEEVS have been something of a permanent fixture within the Gadigal based/Sydney music scene for some time. Their sound often veers from raw and cathartic then further into subtle and introspective moments that elicit intrigue. Their latest album ‘The Borderline, Thereabouts’ showcased how their sound has developed over time while often still leaning towards a controlled chaos. The blueprint for them was solidified 10 years ago with the release of their first EP, 2015’s ‘How to Harken Back’.It has been 10 years since the release of YEEVS’ seminal EP and it showcased early on how three people jamming in a garage could craft songs that poured out a myriad of emotion with dynamic ebb and flow. Lead single ‘Cycle As the Deal Goes Down’ still delivers a gut punch with its razor sharp chorus while ‘Novocaine’ sways with a dynamic push and pull. YEEVS will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of ‘How to Harken Back’ with a headline show at Botany View Hotel in November alongside dear friends Library Siesta, who will be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of their first album ‘Future Haunts’ and Marcus Index.
For over 10 years now, YEEVS have been quietly playing the long game of being in a rock band, being friends and being able to sustain a musical partnership that has only grown deeper with time.
