The Kalbelia women are the matriarchs of their society. In Rajasthan, the village women do not typically leave the home without their husbands. Whereas the Kalbelia women are badass, wild and free. They are the breadwinners and they run the house. Kalbelia dance came when catching cobras for snake charming became illegal. So the women Rose Up! to emulate the movement of the cobra in this dance…
